High Power Bomb Found In Moratuwa


A powerful bomb has been found in a passenger carrying bus in Moratuwa, Rawathawattha today evening. According to the military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara, this bomb has been packed with 3.3kilograms of explosives.
This is the second attempt within the same day by LTTE to take some innocent civilian lives. Earlier this afternoon STF defuced a time bomb in Ganemulla, Kadawatha whic was also in a passenger bus.

CPC Raises Fuel Prices

Ceylon Petroleum Cooperation has raised the prices of Petrol and Diesel effective from midnight today. According to CPC octane 90 petrol has raised by Rs 30 per liter, octane 95 petrol by Rs 40 per liter, Diesel by Rs 30 and Super Diesel by Rs 40.
However Mr Fowzie stated that CPC will not immediately raise fuel prices in response to Lanka IOC price hike. Fuel prices are rocketing up in response to huge demand from emerging economies like China, Depression of US Dollar and obstructions to oil production in Nigeria. Many countries like Malaysia has already raised fuel prices despite of protest from public.

Colombo Fort Bomb Blast - Tigers Are Thirsty For Blood Even In The Month Of Peace

Just only two more days before the Vesak Poya Day a ruthless LTTE suicide bomber has targeted a group of policemen near "Sambuddhaloka Viharaya" in Lotus road- Colombo. Vesak Poya day is one of the Buddhist's most sacred poya days which they celebrate birth, enlightenment and death of Lord Buddha.
6 policemen and 3 civilians have died so far from this incident and more than 90 people including 30 policemen have injured.

Eastern Province Election Successful - First Result Before The Dawn

The mostly awaited Eastern Province election has concluded successfully with a successful number of voters. According to the available information the percentage of voters are are around 62% which is a great success of the officials, security forces and also the candidates.
According to the Department of Elections, Sri Lanka the counting of postal votes has already begun and it is expected that the first result will be made available before the dawn.

Underwater Blast Sinks A Cargo Ship

An unidentified underwater blast which was taken place around 2.00 am this morning has sunken a cargo ship near Trincomalee harbor. No causalities are reported from this incident. This is the second blast reported within 24Hrs time. LTTE blasted another bomb in Ampara last night killing 11 civil ions also.
These could be useless attempts by LTTE terrorists to withheld military advances in the North.

Technology For Sustainable Environment - Microsoft Imagine Cup Finals

The all island final round of popular IT talent search Microsoft Imagine Cup was held recently held at Grand Ballroom of Hotel Galadari. The Imagine Cup is one way Microsoft is encouraging young people to apply their imagination, their passion and their creativity to technology innovations that can make a difference in the world. In this 6th consecutive year the theme was Imagine a world where technology enables a sustainable environment.
The winners were Team "Sasrutha" from University of Moratuwa - Faculty of Information Technology & Faculty of Engineering (UOM) and 1st runners up were Team Gagana from Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) and the 2nd runners up were from University of Moratuwa - Faculty of Engineering (UOM) of Team Will Power.
The Sri Lankan winners will be flying to France for the global competition which will be held in upcoming months. Congratulations!!!
