Bomb Blast in Nugegoda - Sudpects LTTE



A suicide bomb attack took place today (28 November, 2008) afternoon around 5.45 pm S. De. S Jayasinghe Mawath - Nugegoda Boa tree. Eye Vastness says LTTE suicide bomber blew herself when Police officials trying to check a suspecting female.

A bus and several other vehicles which were parked near NoLimit shop caught fire after this incident. 17 died and 37 civilians injured.Those who were wounded were immediately rushed to the general hospital at Kalubowila.

LTTE suicide blast in Narahenpita



A LTTE suicide bomber blew her bomb inside Social Services and Social Welfare Ministry Ministry, on the Isipathana road, Narahenpita, in the Colombo city limits around 8.05 this morning. Police suspect target of the bomber would have been Minister Dougles Devananda. However minister was not injured. Three body guards were injured from the incident and public relations officer of minister Devananda, Mr. Stephen Peries died after admitting to the hospital.

Defense Secretary Wow This Will be Prabakaran’s Final Birthday Celebration



Major terror leader Velupillei Prabakaran celebrates his 53rd birthday on 27th of November 27, 2007. As a tradition he broadcasts worldwide a special speech celebrating his birthday every year. The main objective is to collect funds for his terrorist activities from LTTE supporters worldwide. But recently Mig fighter jets bobbed LTTE illegal satellite broadcasting station and as a result Prabakaran’s this year speech catered only some LTTE cadres and few innocent civilians who were forced by LTTE to attend for the ceremony.

Government’s defense warrior Gotabhaya Rajapakshe responding to terror leaders birth day speech wowed that this will be the final birthday celebration of Prabakaran. An advisor and a decision maker Anton Balasingham died last year and LTTE political leader S. P Thamil Chelvam was bombed this month isolating Prabakaran in the war front.

Defense secretary also noted that LTTE has not gained anything for Tamils but lives of 20 000 innocent Tamil youths and children.

New IT Park for Sri Lanka from SLIIT


Sri Lanka's largest IT degree awarding institute, Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) is planning to start a new information technology park within it's campus premises. This BOI approved project is a joint venture between SLIIT and Ernst and Young International an international auditing firm from India.
The new project to be initialized early 2008 and I have observed early construction work already. SLIIT students will be highly benefited from this project as institute can guarantee jobs for successful students in emerging IT and BPO field.

Sri Lanka Bans LTTE Proactive TRO


Sri Lankan governemnt has decided to ban a NGO called Tamil Rehabilitation Organization, a front end used by LTTE terorists to collect money and other aids from intrnational community for LTTE's terrorist activities. However TRO was found guilty fro their activities and US government freezed all the assets of TRO. Earlier in 2006 Central Bank of Sri Lanka freezed all the bank accounts of TRO as they were caught directly supporting LTTE. Meanwhile the International Leader of the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO), Vinayagamurthi and his wife were taken in to custody in the US. He is believed to be a master mind behind LTTE naval strength. He is supposed to be involved with developing and the use of sea Submarines in their sea attacks.

Australia Afraid of Muttiah Muralitharan


As the forth day of Murali Warne Cup ends Sri Lanka is 246 for 3 wickets and lagging behind 260 towards the victory. Australia was 542 for their first innings and in reply Sri Lanka only gathered 246 runs. Then for the second innings Australian captain decided to declare their inning at 210 giving a target of 507 for the unpredictable lions.

The other main reason which made Ponting to declare was to stop Murali from breaking Shane Warnes world record of 506 wickets. Muttiah is only 5 wickets behind from the world record.

Sri Lanka Budget-2008 Passed by a Majority


President Mahinda Rajapaksa's third Budget presented in the Parliament by the President him self as the Minister of Finance on behalf of the Government was passed by obtaining 118 votes while 102 voted against.JVP, UNP and TNA voted against. Nandana Gunatillake and Wijedasa Rajapakse abstained from voting.

World's second highest test wicket taker Muttiah Muralitharan is only 6 more wickets behind Australiyan cricket super star Shane Warne as the first day of Australiya Vs Sri Lanka ends. At the end of the first day, Australiya is 329 for 3. Dilhara Fernando, Muttiah Muralitharan and Sanath Jayasuriya took one wickets each.

US Treasury Freezes Funds of Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO)


The US Department of the Treasury recently announced that it would furtherance freeze the US held assets of the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO), a charitable organisation that acts as a front to facilitate fund-raising and procurement for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

The Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO ), an LTTE front, in the USA in furtherance of its declared aim of financially isolating terrorist groups and their support networks.

SLT New Tariff Revision


Sri Lanka’s largest fixed line operator, Sri Lanka Telecom has revised it’s call charges in accordance with recent court order. Under this new scheme SLT subscribers will be charged only for what they use in other words, per second billing.

Following table contains new call charges for SLT users per minute without vat(actual billing is done per second basis).


Apart from these charges there is a start-up charge of Rs 1.50 for every call. The best thing is all SLT customers will receive upto Rs 400 worth free usage every month and the new rental for home users are Rs 345.00.

Major Terror leader Thamilchelvan killed bt Sri Lanka Air Force Air Raid



LTTE official news web sites and Peace Secretariat office of LTTE have confirmed that S. P Thamaichlvan has died by a SLAF air raid. In the morning defense ministry website reported that Air Force supersonic fighter jets have simultaneously carried out two air sorties targeting a gathering place of LTTE leaders and a Black Tiger base in Kilinochchi this morning, November 2nd.

Several other international news agencies like AFP and Rauters also reported that this well known terror leader has been killed by the air attack in the dawn.

The other high profile terrorists killed in the air raid were identified as Anpumani (Alex), Mikuthan, Neathaji, Aadchiveal and Vaakaikkumaran.

WiMax Broadband from Dialog

Sri Lanka’s Dialog Telecom has rolled out a new wireless internet broadband system using Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMax) technology. WiMax a IEEE 802.16 standard based wirless technology which provides last mile broadband access to subscribers.
At the moment Dialog offers four variations of three broadband packages.
Speed 1 - 1Mbps Down / 256 Kbps Up + Mail box
Speed 2 - 2Mbps Down / 512 Kbps Up + 5 Mail boxes + 10MB web space
Speed 2+ - 2Mbps Down / 512 Kbps Up + Static IP+ 5 Mail boxes + 10MB web space
Speed 4 - 5Mbps Down / 512 Mbps Up + Static IP+ 5 Mail boxes + 10MB web space

Speed 4 package has a monthly rental of Rs.13000 and Rs 5000 connection fee. Speed 1 package has a monthly rental of Rs.4000.
Current leased lines offered by SLT are priced between Rs 20 000 to Rs 200 000. However SLT also initiated a WiMax project earlier to Dialog Telekom middle of last year. But still they are not offering WiMax broad band commercially.
