Dushanth Crowns As Sirasa Dancing Star

Final session of the Sirasa Dancing Star, the popular dancing talent search organized by Sirasa TV was held at BMICH today. Sirasa Dancing Star was a novel experience for the Sri Lankans and according to the organizers this talent show helps Sri Lankan stars to show up their talents and become mature in the field with the feedback they get from the well experienced judging panel. Dushanth Weeraman and Nilanthi Dias were the remainders for the final round with the SMS voting.
Dushanth Weeraman was crowned at this final session of the dancing competition and were awarded Rs 500000 in price and a vehicle worth morethan 6 million.

Army In A Stronger Position - Captures Vidattaltivu

Armed forces who are operated in Mannar battlefront has liberated Vidattaltivu town along with the surrounding LTTE sea tiger bases. Vidattaltivu is strategically important for both parties as it is one of the main LTTE sea tiger base in the western coastal area. LTTE used this Vidattaltivu sea tiger base to smuggle illegal weaponries and all other dialy needs for LTTE activities. With the natural advantage for a harbor LTTE has used Vidattaltivu area for the terrorist activities from a decade ago. However with the fall of Vidattaltivu, LTTE should definitely face difficulties in gathering arms or other daily needs which are essential for their survive.
Next move by the armed forces could be toward Iluuaikkadavai which will enable SL Forces to restrict sea tiger activities in the western coastal area.

Tornado Hits Colombo Sea

A small scale tornado situation has occurred in sea near Colombo city. No damages to any properties or human lives are not being reported yet. AboutSriLanka has got couple of exclusive images of this incident thanks to Mr. Haritha Gunawardane who has witness this rare incident.
A tornado is a violent, rotating column of air which is in contact with both the surface of the earth and a cumulonimbus cloud or, in rare cases, the base of a cumulus cloud. Tornadoes come in many sizes but are typically in the form of a visible condensation funnel, whose narrow end touches the earth and is often encircled by a cloud of debris.

Search Lights In Colombo Sky

It is being observed that an air defense rehearsal is in progress within the Colombo since 7.30 pm. Air force spokesman has also confirmed that such an operation is in progress in order to face a real situation and minimize the causalities.
However government has warned public citing intelligence reports about a possible attack within next 48hours by LTTE and all the security forces are on alert. In the mean time oppsition party says that this is a false warning by the government in order to prevent government worker's scheduled all island strike.

Earlier to this initiative, LTTE website were the only source of information to all the international new agencies. Former Minister Richard Pathirana Passes Away

Former minister has passed away this evening at his residencies. He was the education minister of the  Chandrika Bandaranayake government. Arrangements of the funeral will be informed later.
