Five Mig-29 fighter Jets From Russia To Crack Down Final LTTE Strongholds

Last week Russia's officials revealed that they are ready to export five Mig-29 fighter jets to Sri Lanka as a help to counter LTTE terrorism. These fighter jets are equipped with very latest armory such as1x 30 mm GSh-30-1 cannons,Up to 3,500 kg (7,720 lb) of weapons including 6 air-to-air missiles — a mix of semi-active radar homing (SARH) and AA-8 'Aphid', AA-10 'Alamo', AA-11 'Archer', AA-12 'Adder', FAB 500-M62, FAB-1000, TN-100, ECM Pods, S-24, AS-12, AS-14. These air-to-air missiles can be used to destroy LTTE light air crafts although a Mig-29 is more than enough to do that job.
